Charles Severin

Charles Severin, PhD, MD ’97, is associate dean for medical education and admissions and associate professor of anatomy. He oversees the educational performance of first- and second-year medical students and monitors their research and clinic work. He also chairs the Medical Admissions Committee and oversees the acceptance of students to the school.

Severin earned a doctorate in anatomy at St. Louis University and a medical degree from UB.

Prior to joining UB’s faculty in 1981, he served as assistant professor of anatomy at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston.

An honored teacher, Severin received the State University of New York Chancellor’s Excellence in Teaching Award in 1989. He also is a six-time recipient of the coveted Louis A. and Ruth Siegel Award for Teaching Excellence in the Basic Sciences.

Prior to his current position, he served the school as assistant dean for years 1 and 2 and instructor of family medicine.
