Having spent three years here during residency, I can honestly say that Buffalo has many unique things to offer, and you can’t help but fall in love with the city.
I was very apprehensive making the move to Buffalo after living in two massive cities — Mumbai, where I grew up, and Houston. The move from Texas to Buffalo was easy and surprisingly pleasant. Buffalo is known as the “City of Good Neighbors,” and it has definitely lived up to its name. People here are genuinely friendly and helpful, which made the transition that much easier.
There is something in this city for everyone. There is plenty to do on your time off, especially if you live within a walkable neighborhood like the Elmwood Village, with tons of cafes, bars, shops and good restaurants.
Outdoor enthusiasts like me will love this city. There are many places for hikes, rock climbing, canoeing, snowboarding and skiing. The night life is also very vibrant — both during the summer and winter.
For those with families, the Buffalo area has some of the best school districts in the region, along with many family-friendly activities.
