Alumni

EVENTS FOR OUR ALUMNI AND FACULTY

Mini Med School presents classes on a wide variety of compelling medical subjects geared toward the layperson and taught by some of UB’s leading physicians and researchers.

These awards are presented each spring to graduates (medical and biomedical), residents and volunteers who are recognized by their peers for outstanding contributions to medicine, science and our community.

The Gold Humanism Honor Society is a steadfast advocate for humanism and honors medical students, residents, role-model physician teachers and other exemplars recognized for “demonstrated excellence in clinical care, leadership, compassion and dedication to service."

This annual event celebrates our donors' loyalty and generosity to the school.

Reunion Weekend is held each year in conjunction with Spring Clinical Day. Alumni gather from across the country to reconnect with classmates and to participate in activities sponsored by the MAA.

This event is held each year during Reunion Weekend. It addresses a theme relevant to medical education, biomedical research or clinical care and features expert speakers, a luncheon and poster presentations by UB residents as part of their Scholarly Exchange Research Day.

The UB HOST Program, sponsored by the Medical Alumni Association, offers medical students and residents the opportunity to connect and network with alumni volunteers while away from campus.

DoctHERS provides opportunities for support and development through various events. By connecting alumni to each other and to current students, we have the ability to inspire, empower and teach our peers and the next generation.

EVENTS FOR OUR STUDENTS

The UB HOST Program, sponsored by the Medical Alumni Association, offers medical students and residents the opportunity to connect and network with alumni volunteers while away from campus.

Orientation Week

Members of the MAA Governing Board attend various events throughout the week and meet the incoming first-year class.

Alumni are invited to attend the White Coat Ceremony in August, where members of the incoming class receive their white coat.

The MAA provides a directory of local physicians in most medical specialties who have volunteered to serve as mentors to current medical students.

Community Physician Luncheons

Local alumni are invited to speak to our medical students about their specialty and how they achieve balance between professional responsibilities and family, friends and hobbies. Students have an opportunity to ask questions.

Student Clinician Ceremony

We provide a copy of Maxwell Quick Medical Reference to all medical students when they enter their clinical years.

The MAA supports our graduating class and wishes them well on this very important day. We present each graduate with a letter opener when they learn where they have been accepted to residency.

The MAA president speaks on behalf of all alumni on Graduation Day and welcomes our graduates to our special network.

The president of Polity is a guest member on the MAA governing board. The board also supports select student conferences and meetings.
