His presentation was part of “Discovery—An Undergraduate Showcase,” a Feb. 29 symposium on student research and creative activities that was sponsored by the SUNY Faculty Senate.

Ma, whose mentor is Margarita Dubocovich, PhD, chair of pharmacology and toxicology, delivered a talk titled “The MT1 Melatonin Receptor as a Principal Mediator on Methamphetamine-Induced Sensitization in C57BL/6.”

Elected Officials from Across New York Attended

In all, 125 SUNY undergraduates and 40 faculty research mentors from 23 campuses introduced more than 90 projects at the symposium, held in Albany’s Legislative Office Building.

Senators and Assembly members representing districts from across the state attended and talked with the students about their diverse research and creative projects.

“The turnout and the support from our elected officials was outstanding,” said Timothy Tryjankowski, director of the UB Center for Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities, who accompanied the students to Albany.
