Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) is the national medical honor society. Election to it is a lifelong honor that signifies a commitment to scholarship, leadership, professionalism and service to the art of healing. Each spring, new members of AOA from UB are inducted in a ceremony that is held in Butler Auditorium.

The American Medical Association Medical Student Section (AMA-MSS) is dedicated to representing medical students, improving medical education, developing leadership and promoting activism for the health of America.

 “Girl Scouts Go to Medical School” is an annual event led by UB medical students.

The 165th commencement for the School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences was held on April 29, 2011, at the Center for the Arts. With proud families, friends and faculty in attendance, 140 students received their medical degrees.

Match Day—when fourth-year medical students receive their residency assignment—traditionally takes place the third Thursday in March. A rite of passage for prospective physicians, it’s the culmination of a process that begins months earlier, when students interview at residency programs in their chosen specialty.

The Student Wellness Committee was established to promote healthy lifestyle choices among medical students while raising awareness about the range of health and wellness services available at UB.
