Departmental Policy On Examination Procedures

  1. Students will supply their own pens, pencils, calculators, tissues, or other items as stated by the instructor prior to the examination. Students will not share any of these items. Only approved resources will be allowed to be used during an examination.
  2. Students will place all book bags, backpacks and personal belongings in the front of the classroom or other designated area.
  3. Students must arrive on time. Extra time beyond the class period will not be given for a late arrival.
  4. Students should monitor the time given for the examination. All test papers must be turned in at the end of the allotted class period.  (Students who need extra time for test taking must contact the Accessibility Resources.)
  5. Only questions regarding instructions, grammar or spelling errors on the examination will be answered by the instructor. Test items will not be interpreted or clarified.
  6. Students will not leave the classroom without turning in the examination.
  7. Students should use the restrooms prior to the examination. They will be allowed to leave and re-enter the classroom only in a valid emergency. During a final examination a proctor will escort the student to the rest room.
  8. Students must turn all electronics (cellular phone, pager, beeper, PDA, beeper-watches, etc.) to inaudible modes.
  9. There will be no talking during the test.
  10. Students must keep their eyes on their own papers. Any student appearing to be looking at another’s work will be assumed to be cheating.
  11. The student will not be allowed to have the test paper returned once it has been turned in.
  12. The instructor will not discuss the test or any test item until all the test papers have been turned in.
  13. Makeup exams are given at the discretion of the instructor and may require valid documentation.
  14. The department maintains a photocopier for the departmental office, faculty, and staff use.  Students may use the photocopier when preparing materials for seminar, teaching projects, etc.  Students must contact the faculty member or the departmental administrator or secretary when they need to use the photocopier.  Copying of notes and old exams is strictly forbidden and will result in the destruction of the material.
