Awards and Honors

Latin Honors

Beginning with degree conferrals of September 1, 2009 and thereafter, students earning baccalaureate degrees are eligible to receive Latin Honors based on their UB GPA only, with at least 60 credit hours at UB, and with at least 54 of those 60 minimum hours graded or pass/fail (i.e., not S/U).

Latin Honors are awarded on the following scale average (based on 4.00 = A):

  • 3.20 cum laude
  • 3.50 magna cum laude
  • 3.75 summa cum laude

Dean's List

Students will be named on the Dean's List for each semester in which they earn a minimum grade point average of 3.6 and have completed at least 15 hours or more of coursework during the semester, 12 of which are letter graded.

Who's Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities

For leadership, service, citizenship, and potential for future achievement. Nominees are recommended by the faculty.

Program Awards

Program awards are presented annually or as needed. These represent special recognition; no money is attached.

Awards determined by the faculty:

  • Alumni Award. Presented to a graduate of the undergraduate or graduate program for contributions to the profession of Medical Technology.
  • Clinical Faculty Award. Presented to an outstanding clinical faculty member for contributions to the Program in Medical Technology.

Awards determined by the students:

  • Teaching Assistant Award. Presented by the graduating class to the teaching assistant who has been most available, understanding and helpful.
  • Faculty Award. Presented by the graduating class to the faculty member who, by setting an example of scholarship and dedication to teaching, has done the most to inspire students.
