Research

My project involves the delineation of mechanisms through which Rab proteins — Ras-like GTPases — regulate secretory and endocytic trafficking in trypanosomes. 

Trypanosoma brucei has an efficient and streamlined secretory machinery that makes it an excellent model organism for the study of these processes. We also are interested in discovering divergent components in the secretory pathway, which could be exploited as targets for drug development.
