Feng Study Reports Millions of Human Cells Have Been Grown Inside Mice Embryos

Updated May 13, 2020

A UB research team has developed a method that dramatically increases production of mature human cells in a living organism. In this case, mouse embryos. The process could potentially generate materials to treat chronic diseases, such as diabetes, by replacing a patient’s damaged cells or tissues with those that are healthy. “This is fundamental research that will allow us to use the mouse embryo to better understand human development,” said Jian Feng, PhD, professor of physiology and biophysics and the published study’s corresponding author.
