While exercising outdoors during the COVID-19 pandemic, individuals should be considerate of their health and the health of others. Thomas A. Russo, MD, professor of medicine and chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases, says it is acceptable to be unmasked if a person is exercising in an area without other people. However, it’s necessary to carry a mask. “If you see someone is coming, you can put the mask on,” he said. “If it’s really crowded, you should wear the mask all the time.”
