SUNY Chancellor Announces New COVID-19 Strategy in Visit to Jacobs School

Updated September 6, 2020

Several reports detailed a visit to the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences by SUNY Chancellor Jim Malatras, during which he outlined a three-pronged attack against COVID-19 on SUNY campuses. Malatras said the state’s plan includes increased and quicker pooled tests, stricter enforcement of rules governing student behavior, and a new statewide SUNY dashboard that will display prompt and comprehensive statistics from each campus. He also praised UB President Satish K. Tripathi and other local SUNY presidents for controlling parties that have caused a spike in COVID-19 cases at other SUNY campuses.
