New Faculty in 5 Departments Bring Broad Experience to School

Eight faculty members with diverse backgrounds and expertise have joined the school’s faculty over the past several months. New faculty include:

Philippe Jaoude, MD, who joined the faculty in July after completing his fellowship at UB.

A clinical assistant professor, Jaoude specializes in pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine.

Alyssa Shon, MD, who joined the faculty in August after completing her fellowship at UB.

A clinical assistant professor, Shon specializes in infectious disease and internal medicine.

Winnie Su, MD, who came to UB in June from McMaster University.

A clinical assistant professor, Su specializes in internal medicine and nephrology.

Mark Hicar, MD, PhD, who came to UB in July from Vanderbilt University.

An assistant professor, Hicar studies the mechanisms involved in induction of neutralizing antibodies and mucosal immune responses against HIV.

Jianxin Wang, MD, and Xin Zhang, MD, are a husband and wife research team who joined UB in July from the University of Oklahoma.

They study the fundamental pathobiology of diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration.

Pankaj Singhal, MD, who came to UB in July 2012 from Kaleida Health.

A clinical associate professor, Singhal specializes in gynecologic oncology.

Mark Fisher, MD, who came to UB in March from Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville, N.Y.
