Biochemistry Students Honored

The Biochemistry Department congratulates the following students on their recent awards:

  • Felicia Cao (Undergraduate student) was awarded the 2011 SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence. The award recognizes “students who have best demonstrated, and have been recognized for, the integration of academic excellence with other aspects of their lives, which may include arts, athletics, career achievement, community service, and leadership.”
  • Swetha Murthy (Graduate student, Dr. Gabriela Popescu's lab) was awarded the Tascione Travel Award for the 2011 Biophysical Society Meeting.
  • Jessica Page (Undergraduate student, Dr. Gabriela Popescu's lab) has received a Center for Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities (CURCA) Fall 2010 Undergraduate Research Award for her research project, "Molecular Physiology of Brain Receptors."
  • Lisa Russell (Graduate student, Dr. Lee Ann Sinha's lab) has been awarded a Keystone Symposia Travel Scholarship for the April meeting: "B Cells: New Insights into Normal versus Dysregulated Function" being held in Whistler, British Columbia.
  • Mandy Shu Shien Chin (Graduate student, Dr. Lee Ann Sinha’s lab) has been awarded a prestigious Albert M. Klingman Fellowship and will have a chance to present her data in one of the plenary sessions at the Society for Investigative Dermatology (SID) meeting in May.
  • Elizabeth Spina (Biochemistry/Biological Sciences) has received a Center for Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities Fall 2010 Undergraduate Research Award recognizing her research project, "GSK and Presenilin Roll in APP Vesical Transportation: A Hint into Alzheimer's Disease."
