James L. Budny, MD, FACS Receives Lifetime Achievement Award

James L. Budny, MD, FACS, clinical associate professor of neurosurgery and radiology at UB, has received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Western New York Chapter of the American College of Surgeons in recognition of his outstanding contributions to health care in Western New York.

Budny has been a member of the surgical team at Kaleida Health’s Millard Fillmore Gates Hospital since 1979.

“Dr. Budny’s clinical expertise has positively impacted the lives of thousands of patients, and his leadership and willingness to share his knowledge have made him an invaluable resource to his colleagues,” says Tamara Owen, president of Millard Fillmore Gates Hospital. “This is a very well deserved honor.”

Budny serves on numerous hospital committees, has received several academic and medical awards and has authored or co-authored dozens of scientific abstracts and articles. He also holds the rank of lieutenant colonel in the United States Army Reserve.
