Sinha’s long-term research interests are in immunological tolerance and autoimmunity.

At the May 23 installation, Sinha delivered a lecture titled “Shifting Paradigms in Complex Cutaneous Disease: Harnessing Biological and Clinical Information to Impact Disease Management.”

Sinha was named chair of the Department of Dermatology at University at Buffalo and Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center in January. Before coming to UB, he was chief of the N.V. Perricone Division of Dermatology and Cutaneous Sciences at Michigan State University and director of its Center for Investigative Dermatology.

Investigating Genetic Mechanisms of Autoimmune Diseases

Sinha’s long-term research interests are in immunological tolerance and autoimmunity. He has received multiple grants to investigate the genetic mechanisms underlying several autoimmune diseases. Since 1998, his translational and clinical research programs have been consistently supported with grants from the National Institutes of Health and research foundations.

A board-certified dermatologist, Sinha has published more than 87 peer-reviewed articles, including four in the journal Science, and has received numerous honors and awards for his academic activities.

Ralph Behling, MD ’43

Ralph Behling, MD ’43, is a longtime supporter of UB’s School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. He earned a BS in pharmacy from UB in 1940. He met his first wife, Rita Clancy, a UB nursing graduate, during his residency at E.J. Meyer Memorial Hospital, now known as Erie County Medical Center.

Behling ran a private practice in dermatology and taught at the University of California/San Francisco School of Medicine until 1984. Rita Behling died in 1998. Today, Ralph and Eileen Behling have 10 children between them.
