Trainees and faculty alike were honored at the Department of Medicine’s 30th annual internal medicine residency graduation dinner.

7 Residents Presented with Awards

John Hu received the Norman Chassin award, and Umair Minhas was the recipient of the William M. and Stanley A. Bukowski Award. These awards recognize them as the residents of the year.

Tanya Orellana was honored with the Golden award, and Taryn Spencer received the Goldstein award. These awards recognize them for their humanism in medicine.

Manu R. Pandey received the Painton award honoring him for his teaching skills, and John D. Picano was the recipient of the Dexter Levy award, which recognized his bedside teaching.

Joseph S. Thomas, who was the event’s featured speaker, was honored with the Rakesh Bidani award for his dedication to his colleagues.

3 Faculty Members Honored

Gregory Fuhrer, MD, assistant professor of medicine, was honored with the F. Carter Pannill, MD, Faculty Award, given to junior faculty members who have demonstrated excellence in bedside teaching.

Scott C. Gruarin, DO, clinical assistant professor of medicine, received the Steven H. Noyes, MD, Faculty Award.

Regina Makdissi, MD, clinical assistant professor of medicine, received the White Coat Award, which is given to faculty members demonstrating excellence in teaching.
