International Workshop: Evidence Based Clinical Pharmacy and Patient Care-Aug 5-19, 2016

Date:
Saturday, August 6, 2016
Time:
8:00 am - 9:00 am

Evidence-based clinical practice has been evolved as an approach to improve and evaluate patient care that should be understood and integrated into pharmacy practice. This international workshop will introduce the concepts of evidence-based pharmacy practice along with presentations of updated pharmacotherapy in disease-specific areas, including cardiovascular disorders, infectious disease, thyroid and endocrine disorders, pain management, and pediatrics. A variety of published evidence, such as systematic reviews and randomized controlled trials for intervention, will be reviewed. There will be a brief introduction of the healthcare system and ongoing reform in the US. The workshop will also provide an opportunity for a hands-on experience in the evidence-based clinical pharmacy practice in the US through case studies and interactions with practicing pharmacists, residents, and fellows on-site. The workshop is primarily aimed at international pharmacists who have no or limited exposure to this topic and who are interested in developing skills in appraisal and integrating evidence- based practice into patient care.
