German artist Joseph Beuys commercialized the blood of a hare as artistic multiple, like the U.S. performer Ann Liv Young did with her menstrual blood. The project deals with questions of what kinds of exchange systems artists will employ and what holds intrinsic value. Affect and metabolism are represented as a subversive mode of exchange between an artwork and its consumers as alternatives to dominant economy systems.
