"Leading a Successful Research Team"
No research program can be stronger than its weakest component. In this
workshop, we will reflect on the triple responsibility of any principal investigator: to
our research, to our trainees, and to our team, such that these three basic
elements are strong and aligned. We will consider how successful teams are
essential to a robust research program, how to go about developing, maintaining,
and adapting your team in an ever-changing environment.
We will discuss the importance of mission-based job descriptions and performance
evaluations, how your team fits in the larger organizational culture and climate, and
how to encourage and support creativity by supporting connections and well-being
within your team. Join us for a discussion on this ever-evolving topic, and share
with the group your experience with barriers to and tips for of a successful team.
This workshop series is free and open to all students, fellows, faculty, and staff at
UB and the Buffalo Translational Consortium.
