Associate Dean for Student Affairs
Andrea Manyon, MD ’83, is associate dean for student affairs in the Office of Medical Education.
She advises students about career choices and graduate training selection and helps them resolve personal challenges that may affect their academic performance.
She also works to advance a culture of professionalism and mutual respect at the school in support of academic excellence.
Manyon came to UB from SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, where she served as chair of the Department of Family Medicine for five years.
Prior to that, she was an associate professor in the UB Department of Family Medicine, where she served as residency program director and vice chair for medical student education.
She also was an attending at Kaleida Health System, a UB Family Medicine physician partner and medical director of DeGraff Family Medicine.
Manyon earned her bachelor’s degree with honors in biology-chemistry from Skidmore College and her medical degree from UB. She trained in family medicine at UB, serving as chief resident at Buffalo General Hospital. Following residency, she completed a fellowship in academic faculty development at UB.
Manyon’s research focuses on the assessment of clinical skills acquisition. Her work has been funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and has resulted in numerous presentations and publications.
