Each year we present a Distinguished Medical and Biomedical Alumnus/a Award to an MD, PhD, Resident and Volunteer of our school who is recognized nationally or internationally for his or her outstanding contributions to medicine and the biomedical sciences, the arts or the humanities. This event takes place annually during Reunion Weekend.
We are proud to recognize our 2020 Distinguished Medical and Biomedical Alumnus/a for their outstanding accomplishments and the distinction they bring to our school!
William H. Adler III, MD '65
We are proud to recognize Dr. Adler for his distinguished career and expertise in the fields of immunology, pathology and infectious disease. His work at the NIH and Johns Hopkins University has had a national and global impact. Throughout his career, Dr. Adler has conducted research that has enhanced our understanding of immune deficiencies in both the pediatric and geriatric populations. His influential research as well as his success as the President and Founder of Wiltshire Associates— which is a company that provides information to individuals interested in investing in the biotechnology—are notable.
Randy J. Loftus, MD '92
UB is a better place because of Dr. Loftus’ dedicated leadership and unwavering commitment. We are so grateful for the time and effort he devotes to supporting programs that bring our alumni and students and residents together. Programs such like the AOA, mentoring, honoring our volunteer faculty, athletic gatherings, philanthropy, and much more. His ongoing willingness to assist us in engaging our constituents across the board is inspiring and represents a level of service we are extremely fortunate to have. Your support of the Jacobs School and the alumni association means so much to us.
