About Us

The Center for Medical Humanities was established in the fall of 2013.

Its director, Dr. Linda Pessar, and a student advisory committee discuss and prioritize center activities for the academic year. We integrate humanities into the core medical curriculum, and we tap into resources in the greater Buffalo community to provide extracurricular offerings that complement and enhance that curriculum.

We have standing committees chaired by medical students that focus on various activities that affect and illuminate the practice of medicine, including community engagement, self-reflection, and the literary arts.

We encourage student involvement in the advisory committee and we welcome suggestions to increase the offerings of the center.
