Dr. Pessar is a Professor Emerita of Psychiatry at UB, and has spent the majority of her career as the Director of Medical Student Education in Psychiatry. She has always been interested in using arts and literature as a way of teaching medicine, and upon retirement, was invited to establish and operate the Center for Medical Humanities.
