Patient Safety

We apply safety science and systems-engineering principles to medical education and practice.

In our Patient Safety Research Center, we:

  • carry out transdisciplinary patient safety research
  • design and implement interdisciplinary educational programs for medical students and residents
  • foster an understanding of safety principles in medicine

Our researchers investigate a range of topics — including medication safety and the role of health informatics in patient safety — to identify and reduce health care-associated harm.
