Initiated by concerned local physicians and business leaders, the Catholic Health System/Western New York Medical Scholarship addresses two key objectives — student debt and projected physician shortages.
Each scholarship recipient is required to apply to the Catholic Health System for residency training and sign a pledge to live and practice for at least five years in one of the eight Western New York counties at the conclusion of their training.
$30,000 per year (for four years)
First-year medical students who have a relative working for either the Catholic Health System or the Catholic Medical Partners, and who have graduated from a high school located in one of Western New York’s counties:

Emails must be received by December 15.
The Scholarship Committee of the Office of Medical Education, in consultation with the Admissions Committee, will decide which students to interview.
Among factors taken into consideration are: academic achievement, future plans and demonstrated financial need.
Following interviews, the Scholarship Committee will make the awards.
Awardees will be notified by phone call and written confirmation.
