This foundation module addresses fundamental concepts regarding the structures and functions of proteins, genes and membranes. This module will introduce students to basic principles of signal transduction and describe basic molecular genetic principles and how they relate to clinical genetic disorders. The goal of the course is for students to gain a better understanding of these fundamental concepts and the roles they play in health and disease. Patient presentations, case scenarios, and problem-solving sessions will promote the application of these key principles.
