Honored for ‘Responsiveness to Patients’

Crane, a professor of medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases, was given the Outstanding Physician Award, selected by the ECMC nursing staff.

Nominators noted Crane’s “responsiveness to patients and the time he takes with the nursing staff to explain the patient’s diagnosis and treatment.”

As an infectious disease specialist, Crane has cared for patients and educated trainees at ECMC since 1994.

Program Recognized for Community Service

Each year, ECMC’s physician staff forgoes a gift from administration for Doctor’s Day and instead requests a donation be made to a local charity in honor of its physicians and providers.

P4W provides hats, gloves and socks for frostbite victims and those in need in Buffalo area hospitals and free clinics. It uses 100 percent of the funds donated by the community to purchase the clothing items in bulk.

The charitable program received $5,000 in recognition of community service and embodying the ideals of humanistic medicine.
