UB alumni are joining the thousands of students, faculty and staff using Microsoft 365 for their UBmail.

If you’re a UB alumni member, here’s what you need to know to stay connected to campus and others with your UBmail.

When is my UBmail move happening? How will I know when it’s happening?

The alumni transition to Microsoft 365-based UBmail—and away from the previous, Google-based UBmail—will begin later in 2022 and continue in waves through 2023. When it’s your turn to make the move, you’ll receive an email from UB Vice President and Chief Information Officer Brice Bible with the subject line, “Your UBmail account is moving to Microsoft 365.”

What do I need to do differently?

The first step is to move any documents and files stored in the Google Drive account associated with your UBmail (see below). Once you do that, there are only a few key things you need to know about your new UBmail account. Visit the UBIT website for more information about:

  • Logging into UBmail using a web browser
  • Removing outdated automatic forwarding rules
  • Re-activating your filters

If you are using the associated Google Drive storage with your Google-based UBmail account, you will need to move those files before your transition to Microsoft 365 (ideally, as soon as possible). Otherwise, you will lose access to these files.

You can transfer your files to another Google account, or download them.

How can I get help with this transition?

The UBIT Help Center is standing by to help members of UB’s alumni community as they transition their UBmail accounts to Microsoft 365.
