Picture a Scientist

Picture a Scientist documents women scientists’ continuous quest for inclusion, diversity, equity and belonging in academia. Three distinguished women scientists describe their experiences with harassment, discrimination and mistreatment at prestigious institutions and the impact that this has had on their careers.

This documentary tells the experiences of biologist Nancy Hopkins, PhD (Amgen Professor of Biology Emerita at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology); chemist Raychelle Burks, PhD (Associate Professor of Analytical Chemistry at the American University in Washington, D.C.); and geologist Jane K. Willenbring, PhD (Associate Professor of Geological Science at Stanford University).

The directors expose the reality of harassment, bias, sexism and discrimination in science and give the audience much needed inspiration to take action and speak up to abolish once and for all the mistreatment of women.
