Hello! My name is Dr. Caitlin Deis (pronounced “dice”), and I have the privilege of serving as an Assistant Dean for Student and Academic Affairs (OSAA) within the Jacobs School of Medicine. In this role, I work alongside Phase 1 medical students (M1s and M2s) to support their academic success, career development, and professional growth as they navigate their journey toward becoming physicians.

As a scholar-practitioner in medical education, my work integrates advising, educational practice, and scholarship to better understand and enhance the learner experience. My scholarly work centers the lived experiences of learners navigating the journey to becoming physicians, examining factors such as learner development, resilience, and belonging, with a particular focus on students from historically underrepresented backgrounds. These insights inform my student-centered, solutions-focused approach and guide my commitment to advancing inclusive learning environments where learners feel supported, challenged, and empowered.
