Professional Summary:

I am an Associate Professor of Surgery at the University at Buffalo and Director of the Golisano Alliance Fetal Diagnosis and Treatment Center at Golisano Children's Hospital of Buffalo. I am triple board-certified in pediatric surgery, general surgery, and surgical critical care, with clinical expertise in fetal surgery, complex neonatal surgery, congenital anomalies, and extracorporeal life support (ECLS).

My research spans clinical, translational, and basic science investigation, with an emphasis on understanding the mechanisms underlying congenital anomalies and developing innovative therapeutic strategies. My clinical research focuses on ex-utero intrapartum treatment (EXIT), congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH), congenital lung malformations, fetal surgical interventions, and optimization of neonatal ECLS management. I lead and participate in national multicenter studies investigating prenatal risk stratification, surgical management, and outcomes in infants with complex congenital conditions.

My translational research interests focus on the developmental and molecular mechanisms of pulmonary hypoplasia and abnormal lung development. I am developing interdisciplinary collaborations integrating developmental biology, stem cell biology, and regenerative medicine to identify novel therapeutic targets and bridge laboratory investigation with prenatal and postnatal interventions.

I am actively involved in national research collaborations through the North American Fetal Therapy Network (NAFTNet) and the American Pediatric Surgical Association (APSA), and am committed to mentoring the next generation of academic surgeons and physician-scientists.
