Professional Summary:

As Chief of Sports Medicine and Associate Professor of Clinical Orthopaedics I am dedicated to the delivery of scientifically supported and innovative treatments for musculoskeletal problems associated with an active lifestyle. I joined UBMD Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine in 1999. I serve as team physician for the Buffalo Bills (NFL), Buffalo Sabres (NHL), and University at Buffalo Athletics. I am Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery with a Subspecialty Certificate in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine.

My clinical practice includes office-based evaluations, surgery, and sports team care. Office-based care is provided at University Orthopaedic Centers in Amherst and Orchard Park, New York. I focus on the prevention, diagnosis, and personalized non-operative and operative treatments of orthopaedic sports medicine related problems. I specialize in arthroscopic knee and shoulder reconstruction and advanced techniques for major tendon and ligament repairs. My team care involves regular emergency preparedness and training room sessions along with extensive game coverage. I take great pride in all aspects of my practice and strive for those under my care to return to a full and painless lifestyle.

I enjoy teaching orthopaedic surgery residents and fellows, primary care sports medicine fellows, medical students, physician assistants, athletic trainers and physical therapists. I am active in all of the orthopaedic departments’ educational modes such as lecturing, journal clubs, role modeling in the office, training in surgical techniques, course organization, community outreach, and research mentoring. My research interests have involved anatomic, biomechanical, and comparative clinical trials related to my specific areas of interest.
