Professional Summary:

I am an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at UB Department of Psychiatry and Director of CME at the Buffalo Psychiatric Center. I received my undergraduate and medical education from the University of the Philippines. After graduating in 1967, I went through a rotating internship at the Mount Sinai Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin followed by psychiatric residency training at the Buffalo Psychiatric Center. I held various fulltime clinical and administrative positions at the Buffalo Psychiatric Center then moved to the Veteran’s Administration Medical Center where I was Chief of the Mental Health Clinic from 1981- 1998. I was instrumental in developing the PTSD Clinic at the Buffalo VAMC.
I am board certified in psychiatry and a distinguished life fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. As past president of the Western New York Psychiatric Society I still hold the post of legislative representative from that organization. I have been an active member of the UB Department of Psychiatry and I am currently the co-chair of the CME committee. In addition to the above, I remain a psychotherapy supervisor, mentor to residents and coordinate the clerkship and residency rotation at the Buffalo Psychiatric center. I had served as Department of Psychiatry representative to the UB School of Medicine faculty council for 10 years and was the co-Chair of the CME committee in 1993-95. I am a retired Colonel, USAR. I received many awards and honors in the military as well as civilian life. I continue to participate in medical missions to the Philippines.
My special areas of interest are family psychoeducation and PTSD.
