Dr. Demler serves as Psychiatric Pharmacy Residency Director for the New York State Office of Mental Health and is the Director of Pharmacy Services at the Buffalo Psychiatric Center. She practices/teaches in psychiatric pharmacotherapy her with teaching activities focused on psychopharmacology, ethnopsychopharmacology and medication management within specialized populations including geriatrics and those disadvantaged by health disparities. Dr. Demler is dually board certified in both psychiatric and geriatric pharmacology. She is primary investigator on numerous research projects and her current clinical scholarship and research includes exploring concomitant pharmacodynamic impact of polypharmacy and demographic predisposing factors contributing to clozapine blood dyscrasias, examining alignment of prescribing trends to current practice guidelines, prescriber perceptions of adverse drug reactions, and emerging pharmacokinetic drug-drug interactions within psychiatric populations. She has numerous adjunct faculty appointments across the country which include academic assignments here in Buffalo as Clinical Associate Professor at the School of Medicine and Professor at the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (SPPS). She was awarded UB Teacher of the Year for 2019 by SPPS and Western New York Best Practices in Residency Training by Western New York Pharmacy Residency Committee in 2022.
