Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology

Clinical Associate Professor

Specialty/Research Focus

Obstetrics and Gynecology; Urogynecology

Professional Summary:

As a gynecologist as well as an urogynecologist, I see women of all ages and treat most conditions that are found both pre and post menopause. My subspecialty is in the field of urogynecology and reconstructive pelvic (vaginal) surgery. One of the main focuses of my practice is diagnosing and treating urinary incontinence and conditions that relate to loss of pelvic, uterine and vaginal support. As treatment options vary from patient to patient and from one condition to another, I strive to approach each patient in an individual and personal way and together form the most appropriate plan for addressing her needs. Improving the quality of my patient‘s lives is my number one goal. I strive to stay abreast of the latest techniques and treatments through attending training and seminars that specialize in this field. I started my training in this area more than twenty five years ago.
While in private practice for the past decade or so, I was also a faculty member of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at UB. This involved teaching and training both residents and medical students. I have always enjoyed academic medicine and recently I returned to my former position as full time associate professor and a member of UBMD. I look forward to this partnership and know that my patients will also benefit from this association.
Although I appreciate recognition from colleges and student in the form of awards and honors, the most meaningful experience I have had as a physician was overseas. I was fortunate enough to travel to the Gaza Strip in both 2006 and 2010 for a humanitarian medical mission. Gaza is one of the poorest and most isolated areas of the world and the need for medical services can not be over stated. My purpose was to train local physicians in the field of urogynecology and treat as many women as possible myself. I hope to be able to repeat this mission in the future should circumstances allow.
