Professional Summary:

Dr. Hanna Algattas is an Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at the University at Buffalo Medical School who joined the UBNS team in 2023. He specializes in complex open and endoscopic treatments of skull base and pituitary disease, neuro-oncology, and minimally invasive cranial surgery. He has additional interests in neurotrauma, degenerative spine disease, traumatic brain/spinal cord injury, and concussions.

After completing his undergraduate training at Colgate University with a degree in Cellular Neuroscience he then received his medical degree from the University of Rochester Medical Center. He then completed his residency training in neurological surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Dr. Algattas then completed fellowship training in open and endoscopic skull base surgery under the mentorship of Dr. Paul Gardner at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center - an internationally renowned institution in skull base surgery and known for the advent of the expanded endonasal approach for minimally invasive removal of skull base tumors.

Dr. Algattas also completed a Sports Neurosurgery Fellowship, the first developed in the nation, under the mentorship of Drs. Joseph Maroon, Vincent Miele, and David Okonkwo. During his time at the University of Pittsburgh, he was awarded the inaugural Aequanimitas Award as recognition for his humility, compassion, and excellent care of patients.

Dr. Algattas has research interests in skull base and pituitary disease, neuro-oncology, craniocervical junction disorders, traumatic brain/spinal cord injury, and concussion.
