GRADUATE STUDENT ADVISING
I supervise masters students in the field of classically trained anatomy, which focuses on the core areas of traditional anatomical science. The focus is to train the next generation of anatomy educators that will be needed in academia over the next several years. Students take graduate level course work in gross anatomy, histology, neuroanatomy, and embryology. Seminar classes focus on teaching pedagogy in the anatomical sciences and preparing for careers in academia. Students can choose between completing a masters level project or a masters thesis in anatomy.
This program serves as a springboard for continuing into doctoral programs in anatomy for those interested in a career in academia. This stream also compliments doctoral programs in more research focused areas, as it provides students with sought-after training for faculty positions that include an anatomy teaching component. Graduates also have the option to apply for faculty positions at teaching-centered institutions which give consideration to applicants with master’s degree, or to industry positions that require extensive anatomy training. This program also provides meaningful post-graduate educational training for students looking to apply to professional health care programs, such as medicine and dentistry.
