Department of Family Medicine
Clinical Associate Professor
As a family doctor, I care for the family as a whole. I am committed to serving the East Side of Buffalo, a neighborhood with a medically underserved population, by caring for patients at the UBMD Family Medicine at Jefferson clinic. This clinic provides top-of-the-line facilities for patients in an area where health care options are few and access is limited. As the center’s medical director, I work to ensure that patients who come to our clinic get quality care efficiently, i.e., without having to wait long to see a physician. After caring for patients on the East Side for more than 15 years, I have become part of the community and feel privileged that my patients share their significant life events with me. In return, I work with empathy toward them as they experience the best and worst moments of life.
I treat patients with chronic conditions such as diabetes, asthma, hypertension, emphysema and depression, and I treat acute conditions such as musculoskeletal pain, respiratory infections and skin conditions. I have a strong interest in preventive medicine and encourage my patients to receive preventive care such as immunizations, Pap tests, mammograms and screening for colorectal cancer. I also perform simple medical procedures in my clinic, including skin biopsies and therapeutic joint injections, laceration repair and abscess drainage.
As a faculty member of the medical school, I am committed to teaching and mentoring. I teach medical students and residents in both inpatient and outpatient settings, nurturing these future physicians’ interest in family medicine by sharing with them my passion for this patient-oriented field.
