Rural/Olean Track

Contribute to the health of a tight-knit community, care for a high volume of obstetric and emergency room patients, and develop personally and professionally in our separately matched rural training track.

Our accredited rural training track in the 1-2 format offers you top-quality training in an urban setting during your intern year followed by two rewarding years in an unopposed rural training environment.

After spending your first year rotating with your classmates on the urban/Jefferson track, you’ll relocate to Olean, a community of 15,000 located 90 miles south of Buffalo.

There, you’ll train in the Universal Primary Care Family Medicine Center, a nearly 10,000-square-foot facility that houses our family medicine center.

Your inpatient training takes place at Olean General Hospital, a state-of-the art regional referral center. Staffed by 190 physicians, this progressive facility features a modern ICU, busy emergency department and obstetrical unit as well as the latest in laboratory and diagnostic services.

Throughout your residency, you’ll receive comprehensive training in all aspects of family medicine—with extensive experience in women’s health and procedures—while benefiting from university-level didactics and electives in an unopposed milieu.
