The fourth annual Arts in Healthcare Clinical Practice Intensive will be held Aug. 1-12 at the UB Center for the Arts.

The intensive is for professionals and students who want to explore the arts in a health care environment.

The intensive is for professionals and students who want to explore the arts in a health care environment. Introductory and advanced clinical practice sections will be available.

Participants will explore the application of visual, performing and literary arts in health care settings through sessions on the history and foundations of the field, hands-on workshops and clinical observation/practice. Study will be supported by in-depth investigation and discussion of current practice supported by recent research and theory.

The sessions will be led by Jill Sonke, director of the University of Florida Center for the Arts in Healthcare, Research & Education. A well-respected expert and educator in the field, Sonke is the immediate past president of the board of directors of the international Society for the Arts in Healthcare. Sessions will also be led by artists in residence involved in the arts in healthcare initiative at UB's Center for the Arts.
