Margarita Dubocovich, PhD, professor and chair of the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, won awards for melatonin receptor research and mentoring postdocs.
Dubocovich will receive the Aaron B. Lerner Award for Outstanding Contributions to Melatonin Receptor Research this month at the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology summer research conference titled ”Melatonin Receptors: Actions and Therapeutics."
Earlier in June, she received the 2011 UB Distinguished Postdoc Mentor Award. Only UB postdoctoral scholars can nominate mentors for the award, which recognizes a faculty member who serves as a teacher, advocate, advisor and role model.
Dubocovich, an internationally recognized expert in molecular pharmacology and drug discovery, specializes in the neuropharmacology of melatonin and its receptors.
