Margarita Dubocovich, PhD, has received an Award in Excellence in Pharmacology/Toxicology from the Pharmaceutical Research Manufacturers Association (PhRMA) Foundation.
The award recognizes researchers who received grants from the foundation at the beginning of their careers and went on to distinguish themselves through scientific and academic achievement.
Dubocovich, chair of the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, won a starter grant from the foundation in 1983, when she was an assistant professor at Northwestern University.
She joins an elite group of previous awardees including international leaders in pharmacology and toxicology.
A widely recognized expert in molecular pharmacology and drug discovery, Dubocovich specializes in the neuropharmacology of melatonin and its receptors.
She was honored April 21 at the American American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics awards ceremony, held during the Experimental Biology Meeting in San Diego.
