UB medical students expressed their creative side—and their sentiments for a loved one—while making homemade valentines at an event sponsored by the Student Wellness Committee.

“Art with Heart,” held Feb. 10, offered participants a chance to unwind from their studies with lace doilies, glitter and other craft supplies. Dozens of medical students stopped by Lippschutz Conference Room to create cards for friends, parents and sweethearts.

Now in its second year, the Student Wellness Committee was established to help students cope with the stress of medical school and highlight the range of health and wellness services at UB. Among its activities, the committee hosts lunch lectures on such topics as nutrition, finances and relationships.

On March 16 committee members will host a Wellness Fair from 12 to 1:30 p.m. in the atrium of the Biomedical Education Building. UB representatives in mental health, sports and recreation, financial services and other areas will be on hand to talk with students. Community businesses have also been invited and will offer giveaways and free services, including massages.
