Manuscript Writing Workshop

Date:
Friday, December 12, 2014
Time:
9:00 am - 10:00 am
Location:
77 Goodell Street, Room 206

At this workshop Shannon Carlin-Menter and Andy Danzo will share a manuscript in development: Training Medical Students on Substance Abuse Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT): A National Survey of Family Medicine Clerkship Directors. This manuscript is based on questions included by the authors in a 2014 survey by CERA, the CAFM Educational Research Alliance (CAFM is the Council of Academic Family Medicine, which includes NAPCRG and STFM).
The aim was to identify gaps in the training of medical students during rotations with Family Medicine that hinder the development of a physician workforce that is competent in Addiction Medicine.
Specifically to:
1. Determine the prevalence and type of curricula for Screening, Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) used during student rotations with Family Medicine.
2. Explore the perceptions of Clerkship Directors on SBIRT/substance abuse education as it relates to their respective programs.

We will also host our Second Annual “Presentations into Pubs" session to provide an opportunity for those of you returning from NAPCRG or other conferences to brainstorm ideas on turning your poster or presentation into a manuscript.
