Manuscript Writing Workshop

Date:
Friday, March 13, 2015
Time:
9:00 am - 10:00 am
Location:
77 Goodell Street, Room 206

Sushama Kotmire, M.D. Will share her manuscript-in-progress on: “Spiritual Health Initiative: Integrating Spiritual Assessment into the Patient Centered Primary Care Model.” During this session we will provide advice on the literature search and help with the introduction.

Shannon Carlin-Menter, PhD will report progress on “Training Family Medicine Students in SBIRT: A CERA Study,” which is being finalized for submission to Family Medicine later this month (Shannon is lead author). The paper examines training in a model of prevention and early intervention for substance use known as Screening, Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT). Questions developed by the UB Addiction Medicine team, headed by Dr. Blondell, were embedded in the annual national survey of Family Medicine clerkship directors conducted by CERA (a collaboration of STFM, NAPCRG, and the Associations of Departments of Family Medicine and Family Medicine Residency Directors). The survey, conducted in September-October 2014, achieved a 91% response rate. Comments on the paper’s first draft are expected shortly from the CERA co-authors, and can be reviewed and discussed at the workshop.

We can make room in the schedule for others who would like help or feedback on a manuscript in progress – just let us know during the week.

Hope you can join us.
