Minitab statistical software is available for free to UB students, faculty and staff. Due to a licensing change, you’ll need to upgrade Minitab on any personal devices by the end of 2021.

If you’re using Minitab’s Windows app on a device you own, visit the UBIT website for instructions on how to download the latest version of Minitab. On that page you’ll also find instructions for installing Minitab.

Versions of Minitab running on UB-managed computers, including in UB’s public computing sites and My Virtual Computing Lab, will be updated automatically by UBIT support staff.

You can also use Minitab through a web browser by visiting minitab.com.

What’s changing?

The company that makes Minitab is changing how licensing works. Beginning January 1, 2022, Minitab is being licensed to specific individuals. Previously, Minitab licenses for people at UB were not tied to a specific individual.

UB students, faculty and staff will still have access to Minitab for free after 2021; however, the specific licenses will require a different login process, for which version 20 or higher of Minitab is needed.
