Meet Amer Mansour, MD, Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Resident
Tell us a little about your background.
I grew up right outside of Boston, where I spent most of my life before moving to Chicago for college. After completing my undergraduate degree at the University of Chicago, I spent one year conducting ENT research back home in Boston. I then started medical school at Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, which led me to Buffalo for ENT residency.
When looking at otolaryngology-head and neck surgery residency programs, what qualities were most important to you?
I was most interested in programs that provided strong hands-on operative training at all PGY levels.
What specific attributes about UB’s program appealed to you the most?
The surgical volume and experience that are provided by the UB ENT residency program are unmatched and are the things that drew me to this program the most. Residents of all levels are able to gain operative experience and consistently improve their surgical skills.
What is the atmosphere like in the residency program?
The residents and attending physicians that are a part of the UB ENT program are what makes the program so enjoyable. I have felt so much support from my co-residents and attending physicians, which is particularly important in such a small program.
What do you like best about living in Buffalo?
I’ve come to really appreciate the sports culture in Buffalo. During Bills’ or Sabres’ games, it’s amazing to experience the sporting events with everyone in Elmwood Village or Canalside!
