Meet Kristine Karibandi, MD ’22, Anesthesiology Resident

Can you tell us a bit about your background?

Hometown: Long Island, New York
Undergraduate university: NYU
Undergrad major: Global public health
Medical School: Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences

Why did UB’s anesthesiology residency appeal to you? Did earning your MD at the Jacobs School have an impact?

I chose to apply to UB for residency mostly because of my experiences with the UB anesthesiology residents at the time of my rotation. They were so welcoming, friendly and smart. I loved going into the ORs everyday and easily envisioned myself in their shoes.

Are there aspects of our anesthesiology residency you particularly enjoy?

My favorite aspect of the UB anesthesiology program is the broad scope of cases we get to see throughout our clinical years. Going through several different hospital systems across the city, we see so many things in a short time period which may be more than the average anesthesiology resident.

How do you feel about living in Buffalo, NY?

Being my eighth year here in Buffalo, I have really grown to love this charming city. I remember first moving here from New York City, and I was shocked there was only one line on the subway train. But even so, I still find something new to explore every day. From the outdoors and farmers markets to sports games and concerts, there really is something here for everyone. Just hope you’re OK with some snow! Go Bills!
