I met Liz during our first year, about 1 month in. We were assigned to the same group of medical students to work on a project. Thinking I'd help out the group, I suggested the theme of our project and subsequently was "elected" group leader. I remember meeting Liz after class one day to work on the project - and the rest is history! There were many days spent studying but what really drew us together was that most of the time talking about med school was "off-limits".
We couples-matched, Liz to Virginia Commonwealth University Fairfax Family practice program in suburban DC (Virginia), and Michael to George Washington University Internal medicine in DC. We married in 2006 and she followed me to my Rheumatology fellowship at Case Western University in Cleveland, OH. Both natives of Buffalo (Orchard Park for Liz and Williamsville for Michael) we were extremely excited to move back home near our families in 2010 and now live in Orchard Park with our FOUR kids (ages 7, 5, 3, and 1)!
Liz works at East Aurora Family Practice and myself at Rheumatology Consultants of WNY (West Seneca). I also volunteer as clinical faculty for the medical school precepting 3rd year students one day a week - introducing them to the exciting field of rheumatology!
