Psychiatry
As a psychiatrist, my clinical practice focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders, and I have special interests in neuropsychiatric manifestations of brain disease, consultation-liaison psychiatry, and somatic therapeutic modalities, including electroconvulsive therapy. I am an attending physician working primarily in a general inpatient psychiatric unit at Erie County Medical Center. There I lead a multidisciplinary team including resident physicians, medical students, social workers and discharge planners to deliver effective, timely, compassionate treatment in an acute care setting.
In my role as a faculty member of the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, I oversee third-year medical students rotating on their psychiatry clerkship, offering feedback on interviewing style, differential diagnosis, and treatment approach. I also provide direct clinical supervision to psychiatric residents during their inpatient psychiatry rotation where exposure to broad psychopathology and the interplay between substance abuse and other psychiatric illness are center points of the training experience.
